Quantitative delineation of karyotype variation in Papaver as a measure of phylogenetic differentiation and origin

چکیده
Karyomorphology of 30 species of Papaver L. (Papaveraceae) and in situ localization of rDNA sites on chromosomes of P. somniferum was used to establish phylogenetic affinities, ancestry and chromosomal variation during speciation. A simple biometrical parameter, the ‘Dispersion Index’, was employed to facilitate quantitative evolutionary gradation between the closely related karyotypes that fall under the same class of karyotypic asymmetry. The karyoevolutionary data thus obtained is combined with the morphotaxonomic information to project species interrelationships and probable phylogenetic order. Over 2-fold diminution in relative chromosome size is associated with speciation in this genus. Diminution is almost uniform except the smallest pair. The degree of reduction in the short arm is proportionately more than that in the long arm. The opium poppy, Papaver somniferum (2n = 22), a deviation from x = 7, appears to have originated via chromosomal introgression through aneuallopolyploidy involving addition of nucleolar chromosomes from two or more species. Possibly, a progenitor triploid hybrid between species like P. glaucum (2n = 14) and P. gracile (2n = 28) may have preceded the speciation of P. setigerum (2n = 22) and P. somniferum (2n = 22) in concurrent succession.

A Unified Framework for Delineation of Ambulatory Holter ECG Events via Analysis of a Multiple-Order Derivative Wavelet-Based Measure
In this study, a new long-duration holter electrocardiogram (ECG) major events detection-delineation algorithm is described which operates based on the false-alarm error bounded segmentation of a decision statistic with simple mathematical origin. To meet this end, first three-lead holter data is pre-processed by implementation of an appropriate bandpass finite-duration impulse response (FIR) f...

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) is a supreme pathogen in tropical and subtropical areas. During 2014-2015, a total of 393 tomato samples showing Tomato yellow leaf curl disease (TYLCD) symptoms were collected from six different provinces of Iraq. In serological assays, 55 out of 393 samples (14%) reacted positively with TYLCV-specific antibodies .The presence of TYLCV was verified in 21 (...

متن کاملThe Natural Variation in Six Populations of Calendula officinalis L.: A Karyotype Study
In the current investigation, karyotype analysis and chromosome characteristics of six populations of Calendula officinalis L.(pot marigold) from Iran are studied. Results showed that all populations were diploid (2n= 2x= 32), and had symmetrical karyotypes composing mainly of metacentric and submetacentric chromosomes. The mean chromosome length ranged from 1.05 in Karaj to 1.50 μm in...

The wild-relative gene pools of wheat are a rich source of genetic variation for wheat improvement.Karyotypes of eight genotypes of Triticum monococcum subsp. aegilopoides and eight genotypes of Aegilops cylindrica, which grown wild next to each other in different regions in the west of Iran were studied. Root tips were treated in α-bromonaphthalene solution, fixed in chromic acid-formaldehyde f...
